Student Bars in Bristol

Bristol has dozens of bars and pubs to keep you on your toes and in plenty of different areas too. From the bright lights of the Waterfront, to the hustle and bustle of Whiteladies and a more chilled out vibe in Stokes Croft, there’s something for every taste.

WATERFRONT

A favourite amongst the weekend drinkers, this strip of bars and clubs is along the picturesque harbourside where you can sip a cocktail and look out onto the boats if you’re feeling that civilised. Bars range from BSB and Lloyds Wetherspoon to Pitcher and Piano further along. It also plays host to a huge Oceana and rumour has it that Hooters will be taking up new residence very soon.

WELSH BACK

This area sits along the river bed and is home to some of Bristols most loved drinking haunts. From the cider lovers favourite, The Apple to The Old Duke pub and The Thekla’s floating dancefloor.

THE CENTRE

From the hustle and bustle of Baldwin Street (one of the main roads into the centre) to the cobbled Corn Street and every little pathway in between, the central area has everything from Reflex, Vodka Revolution and Wetherspoon to something a little different and darker, likeTimbuk2 and Lab which favour underground music and stay open much later.

GLOUCESTER ROAD / STOKES CROFT

If clubbing isn’t your thing and you feel like having a few drinks where anything goes, hit up Stokes Croft / Gloucester Road. There’s numerous hidden gems such as The Prince of Wales where you can find a pub quiz or The Golden Lion for some live jazz. It may take a few bar crawls to find your favourites.

PARK STREET / TRIANGLE

By now, you will know what Park Street has to offer in terms of shopping and atmosphere but it also has numerous bars and clubs for you to explore further. It’s popular for bar crawls or a stop off point before going up to Whiteladies or down to the Centre. If you’re after variety, where you could alter between cocktails and pints, a game of pool or the dance floor, this is it.

WHITELADIES

Referred to as the ‘Golden Mile’, this is a favourite amongst both students and those who work 9 to 5 and live it up on the weekend. Whether you’re up for a bar crawl or some civilised cocktails, there are copious bars to choose from such as Sasparilla, Bar Humbug and many more. Start your night here before partying on down through to Park Street.
